Direct links to Library Resources if homepage is down

Below are direct links to some of the library's resources if the library homepage or springshare sites in general go down:

RVOneSearch: http://ezp.raritanval.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=rv1

From within RVOneSearch, the links to Catalog and Journals at the top left of the screen will still work to access the library catalog and the Full Text Finder directly.

Catalog: http://catalog.somerset.lib.nj.us/search~S9

Full Text Finder (periodical search): http://ezp.raritanval.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=pfi&defaultdb=pfipub&plp=1&direct=true

A separate post will be available with direct links to individual databases.

Mathematica

The Mathematica software is available on Library computers. It is actually called 'Wolfram Mathematica'. Users will need to click on the start menu followed by 'All Programs' and scroll down to 'W' to access it.

MATLAB Access

To access MATLAB students will need to do the following:

1. Click on the 'Start Menu'. Click on 'Citrix' next to the Internet Explorer icon near the top (under Adobe Reader).
 2. Click INSTALL
 3. A new window will open that students can just close because it has nothing to do with their program.
 4. The original window asks you to confirm installation. User will click 'Continue'.
 5. User can now access MATLAB which is actually called Citrix XenApp with credentials they should already have.

3D printers

There are 3D printers on campus that students can use with permission. Students should contact Peter Stupak in the Science & Engineering Department and he will give them the information they need. peter.stupak@raritanval.edu

A Google A Day

I just discovered that if you don't enter any search terms in Google and put your mouse over the I'm feeling lucky button, it swivels like a slot machine and turns up several options, like "I'm feeling hungry" (results are restaurants), "I'm feeling curious" (gives an interesting fact), and several more. "I'm feeling puzzled" brought me to A Google A Day, which gives you a question and then you are supposed to use Google to find the answer. Check it out http://www.agoogleaday.com/#date=2012-03-27. I don't know exactly how it could be used yet but it seems like a really interesting way to engage students with Google!
